The Drug War

    Newer Older

I've recently aquired some pretty amazing vintage ephemera. It's all so incredible that I am loathe to actually cut or glue it. Thus, this is a collage made using scanner photography--I arranged the pieces using the scanner bed as my canvas, then took the photo with the scanner. Now the paper is all back in its box, awaiting another moment of adoration.

    The "war on drugs" kills.

Man, I have sat for hours with my exacto knife and cut out intricate things! I never thought to use my scanner. Oy.

as much as i can appreciate the pain of and resistance to actually cutting these awesome images out of their context, you simply cannot get the physicality and texture that you do from actually cutting and pasting these elements together.

love the image though, its a great piece. but i do encourage you to actually take the xactos and glue out to compose more pieces, it makes the tangible piece oh so much more unique, and the process itself is so much more fun and freeing than using the computer :)

This is actually the only scanner collage i've ever made. All of the others in my collage set are glued and permanent.
