Earl Reinert Victory Air Museum, Mundelein, IL, 1963-1984.
These forlorn warbirds were part of a privately owned collection. I visited the museum in 1976, the museum was located in Mudelein IL, approximately 60 miles northwest of Chicago. A gentlemen by the name of Earl Reinert owned these warbirds and had intended on returning the planes to flying status as money became available. Unfortunately he ran into financial difficulty and had sell all the old birds. All of the Hispano Messerschmitts you see in these pictures were used in the 1969 movie “The Battle of Britain”. Many of the Hispano Messerschmitts that are currently in the US came from this collection.
