Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica

I went downtown looking for something different to photograph on Saturday morning. I didn't really know where i was going but i knew that i would start my search in the Byward Market.

The streets were deserted as it was still very early in the morning. I drove around for a few minutes and turned down St. Patrick street. I ended up in the rear parking lot of the Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica. My plan was to walk over to the Art Gallery across the street to see what i could see.

Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica is apparently the oldest standing church in Ottawa. It is a beautiful structure inside and out. The sun was coming up and i noticed how the top of the church was catching the early morning light. I spent the next 15 minutes photographing the church from different angles.

The steelpes are beautiful and feature very intricate designs and details.

Once i was done there i walked over to the Art Gallery where i took a few shots and then headed back to my car. I drove to Mud Lake and enjoyed a nice hike around the lake before going home. All in all a great day.

Have a great day everyone.
