THE FAIRYTALE COTTAGES OF CARMEL-BY-THE SEA

As you can probably tell, this is a newer cottage that incorporates lots of ideas. I always love the stake fences, front gardens and rounded doorways. This house also has an eyebrow window. Eyebrow windows can still be identified as the small light-weight windows that are built into attics and into the top moldings. Older renditions of eyebrow windows are hinged at the bottoms and open inwards. For this reason eyebrow windows were once referred to as 'lie-on-your-stomach windows'.
