California spring

The Glenn County creek beds of Stoney Creek come alive with the bloom of Tamarix parviflora during the middle of April. This highly invasive shrub or small tree is not a California native. Of European origin, it was introduced to the area at some point and has made a home for itself in the sand and gravel base of the creek.
