This handsome American Wigeon pair was feeding along the banks of Llano Seco along with a group of Coot. The Coot flew off but the pair remained for a time. It was interesting to see how well they blended with the natural colors of the grass and weed. The male is definitely sporting some full blown breeding colors. The green robber band around the eye glowed iridescent each time he moved his head to catch the sun. Although pale by comparison, the female also shows some beautiful markings.
