the picture was shot 1965; that car was my companion during the 1968 students' revolution - and the girl sitting in the car became my wife 1969; this photo is a reminder to me, to think about the hopes of my generation; in Germany my generation has a bad image and the media like to focus on some terror groups (RAF); but that's not correct; my generation worked for more democracy, more sexual liberation, created an unbelievable good repertoire of new music; the Neoconservatism in Germany (not in the USA or in France, I think) tries to give my generation a bad image; sad; but this photo always gives me back a smile - and helps me to find back in the feelings of hope... (my favorite philosopher: Ernst Bloch, www.amazon.com/review/R16716M7GQMBVR "the principle of hope")
    P.S.:
I've scanned some old slides from 1965 - the song in our hearts at those days: "Sunny Afternoon" by the Kinks - www.youtube.com/watch?v=1h1oRP7FfBw

Thanks for sharing the story! I really love this photo, the sixties look, the car, the dress, the POV, the pose of the girl, her look... the photo is a story by itself, fantastic

the picture and what you wrote really got me thinking, I have always wondered how german people that lived right after WWII dealed with the way the rest of the world ostracized them...

    6. Frizztext 58 months ago | reply

yes, there was a youth revolution against the old conservative structures, still remaining in the German society...
