The Seattle Wheel and Waterfront
Well the Seattle waterfront will never be the same as we have a new attraction that just opened. The Great Seattle Wheel is located on the other side of the Seattle Aquarium and for around $15 you can get about a twenty minute ride. I have not ridden it yet...you will know as I will have to post a view from this unique perspective from inside the climate controlled gondolas.
I was down on the waterfront trying to scope out several different compositions. This is one that I settled on, however it is not that unique, but affords a nice view. Sunset was looking promising, but in true Pacific Northwest fashion, the clouds moved in over the Olympic mountains to the west just in time to obscure the light! Fortunately I was able to capture some of the color in the higher clouds.
Back to the HDR images with this one. This is three exposures (-2, 0, +2) merged and tonemapped in Photomatix. I then did a slight crop in Photoshop, applied some "Dodge and Burn" to the highlights and shadows. I also ran through Topaz adjust to regain some details and remove some of the noise. Final adjustments to sharpening and desaturation of some of the colors was done in Lightroom.
