At the headquarters of Tunisia’s independent election commission, known by the French acronym ISIE, a staff member monitors reports of infractions that are sent in by trained domestic observers via text message, Twitter, and Facebook. New media were a key component of the poll-monitoring effort. Freedom House partners Conscience Politique and Internet Society Tunisia developed a platform for all citizens to report on election violations through the Nchoof project (www.nchoof.org).
