Sadhus, holy men of India

This is a famous baba in Varanasi, always hanging out in Dasaswamedh Ghat on the banks of the holy Ganga. My friend Sanjay and i like to call him "Sundar baba" (the term "sundar" meaning "beautiful" in Hindi), because of his very elaborate attire and face tilaks.

His hand position (mudrâ) is known as the abhaya-mudrâ, which means "have no fear".

Scanned from fuji film.
