France, Alsace, Strasbourg,…a long walk to human rights, “Cour européenne des droits de l’homme”, the European Court of Human Rights, not to be confused with the European Court of Justice. The jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights has been recognised by 47 European states. The building was designed by the Richard Rogers Partnership & completed in 1995. The design is intended to reflect, amongst other things, the two dissimilar mechanisms of the Commission & Court, as it was at that time. Wide scale use of glass emphasises the “openness” of the court to all European citizens.
