Tiny Planet with Star Field

Another variation on the "tiny planets" (a.k.a., "little planets") theme. Again taken in the front yard, but this time with afternoon sunlight and a few wispy clouds.

The starfield was added later in photoshop and was created by sprinkling glitter on black velvet and taking a flash photo of it with an 8-point star filter on the lens (view at full size to see what I mean). I used the "Linear Dodge" transfer mode in Photoshop.

Since posting this, I've noticed some problems with it: 1) it's just a polar remapping and not a stereographic one...and the sterographic remapping technique, IMHO, seems better--I'll have to redo this--and 2) focus should've been locked at infinity, rather than the hyperfocal distance, since distant features in the periphery really get magnified (well, the nadir shot should stay at it's focal length, perhaps).
