Family Promise Annual Meeting (2/27/18)
In February 2018, move than 100 stakeholders attended Family Promise's Annual Meeting. It began with a keynote address by the Rev. Dr. Wallace McLaughlin of the Fathers & Families Center. Then Executive Director Mike Chapuran announced two big achievements: the average stay of a family in the shelter program decreased by 15%, allowing the program to serve 28% more families in 2017. Second, three new congregations joined the hosting network while others committed to host more weeks, allowing the organization to plan to operate at full capacity with two congregations hosting every night for the first time in more than 10 years. Last, we had the honor to recognize congregations and coordinators. Receiving the 2017 Volunteers of the Year Award were Joe and Nancy McDonald, who have served at Orchard Park Presbyterian for 24 years. Receiving the 2017 Coordinators of the Year Award were Ric Gasaway and Marge Ohl--a coordinator team at Old Bethel United Methodist who have hosted more than 150 families the last 15 years serving in this role. The FPGI staff thank all who attended, and Nate Smith for the photography.
