Tossing the Caber - Dornoch Highland Gathering 2007
The feature event of the "Heavy Competitions", the caber tossing is probably the most famous event at the Highland Games.
The caber is about 20 feet long and weighs about 130 pounds, although there is no uniform standard (each games has its own set of cabers). The aim is simple; pick up the caber, run a short distance carrying it vertically and then launch it into the air - the caber should flip completely over and land dead straight in front of you, the nearer to dead straight you get it, the better the throw.
And now you all know what the true Scot wears under his kilt - lycra cycling shorts!
