Collared Lizard Scanning for Prey

Newer Older

The Collared Lizard is the largest lizard found in the red rock country around Moab, Utah. They often sit on rocks like this male scanning the desert for smaller lizards and other prey. Note the powerful hind legs that help enable them chase down dinner. For my money, Collared Lizards are just about as pretty of a herp as you will ever find!

Incredible photo, I've never seen colours like this on a desert lizard before. I saw your photo over on abduzeedo.com/worldwide-photography-8-utah-desert hopefully they asked before they linked to your photo.
