Rainforest Night Magic

Please feel the enchantment of this special place and View Large on Black

One of my favorite moments on the Olympic Peninsula was a night hike we did through an old growth Sitka Spruce rainforest down to the beach. Night magic lurks in them there woods!

Image notes: pretty much straight from RAW, not HDR or anything fancy in post. Edit to answer some questions from the comments: White bal was amazingly set to auto. I really expected it to be off in post, but I think the camera nailed it. In terms of a source of light, it was only natural light remaining from the past sunset and twilight. Something about being this far north makes it seem like this light is always lurking to the NW late into the evening. Basically the sky above looked like night to the naked eye but to the very NW coast there was just a slice of not quite black sky still remaining.

Blue light inside the forrest is good but the down from the canopy coming light really makes this picture fantastic. Have to say you really found the "blue hour" inside the forrest. All The Best.

Wow! This is my new favorite "in the woods" shot! Awesome beauty and atmosphere in this one!

The Olympics and the Northwest is one of my favorite places. I did a trip up there a few years ago and am itching to go back. I'd love explore the rainforests more and to catch the wildflowers in August up in the Cascades. Maybe next year.
