Chariot of Fire
To best count the stars View Large on Black
So I had this burning desire for a road trip out to Pawnee National Grassland...
Strobist Info: These effects are not from Photoshop, very little post process was required.
I placed a red LED headlamp behind the front wheel for the fire (an Energizer one you can get at Target for $10). For the internal glow I used the same LED lantern from the tent shot a while back, and again I secured some diffusing material around it with a ball bungee. Moonlight provided the fill.
The only real trickery in this shot is that I used a longer low ISO exposure for the foreground to limit noise. Of course with the longer exposure I would not have been able to avoid star trails so I took another at ISO 1600, 30 seconds for the sky. The foreground on the 30 second shot is pretty much the exact same as this ISO 100 one but with more noise/less apparent detail.
