New York Civil Liberties Union contingent
NYCLU participants wore t-shirts stating "Dissent Is Patriotic." Its parent organization is the American Civil Liberties Union. The ACLU, founded in 1920, was led during its early years by Roger Baldwin. The Fellowship of Reconciliation, of which Baldwin was a founding member, helped launch the National Civil Liberties Bureau, the predecessor of the ACLU, in 1917. So the histories and legacies of FOR and ACLU are deeply intertwined.
