[Puget Sound Pulp and Timber was formed in 1929 as a conglomerate of pulp and timber companies in the Puget Sound area. The oldest unit of the Bellingham, Washington, mill was completed in 1938. Subsequent new buildings and additions to the plant were built over the next twelve years. On July 2, 1963, Puget Sound Pulp and Timber Company was acquired by the Georgia-Pacific Corporation. Georgia-Pacific continued to operate the Bellingham pulp mill until 2001.]
