Super Yosakoi Dancing Kids

Event: Super Yosakoi, Tokyo, Japan, 27-28 August 2011

Yosakoi started some decades ago with the purpose of revitalizing the struggling post war economy of Japan. This year's Super Yosakoi in Tokyo is aimed to help the tsunami hit areas. Participants are dressed in colorful outfits and struts the streets of Harajuku and Omotesando to the rhythm of their "naruko", a clapper (as seen in the photo) which was traditionally used to scare the birds off their crop fields. Hundreds of groups from different localities and prefectures participated and each group is composed of 30 (maybe, just my estimate) and more members.
