the end

    Newer Older

This time your assignment is to find or compose a scene that conveys the essence of the end. There are many moments (or things or concepts) in our days, weeks, or lives that represent the end (finish) of something big or small. Do your best to make it recognizable to others what end your image represents.

    What It Took:
I started with a inside picture of a railroad signal hose which had an interesting red color. I missed something interesting at the end of the hose (a spider would be great :-). So I combined it with a picture of a pedestrian tunnel.

Post processing of pedestrian tunnel: Brightened out some bikes and other pedestrians in the distance, GIMP photochrom effect (this boomed the contrast and the yellow tone)

Post processing of the hose: Extra contrast, rescaled to overlap with tunnel.
Combination: GIMP 60% tunnel (Normal mode)

I cropped the image so the tunnel floor ended in the corners of the photo and added a vignette.

nicolas.hippert, Navicore, and 16 other people added this photo to their favorites.

This is so fantastic. You've handled intense contrast well, without blowing anything. An the red and yellow tones are perfect. Fantastic image and storytelling!

As Margherita says, the colours are fascinating. So unexpected in a scene I associate (usually) with concrete greyness. It was a great idea to combine the two images, which result in a super submission for The End.
I think the only suggestion I can make is that I would have erased the red circle where it meets significant dark lines and the lighting tubes of the tunnel image. That is a small 'pick' in a great image. :o)

I have to say, what truly makes this image for me is the person at the end of the tunnel. It just gives so much depth to the image, and the color is very effective. Love it.

I alrady came through to tell you how awesome this was, but I've been trying to think of something constructive, but I can't; just a great shot and execution.

Zalige tonen, alsof je een kernreactor binnenstapt, heeft echt iets sf-achtigs.
