HMS RAMILLIES Beardmore Sculpture

Perspectives of Scotland

This impressive maritime sculpture by Sculptor Tom Mckendrick is a great addition to the streets of Dalmuir (Clydebank). Dedicated to the hard working shipbuilding employees of the now defunct William Beardmore & Co Ltd , who built some of the most famous British warships throughout the two wars and in between , including the one on top of the sculpture , HMS Ramallies , which was launched from this yard on 12th June 1916 , with a huge displacement of some 28,000 dwt. She was eventually broken up in 1949.
