the seastack of Davenport
Checked out this wonderful beach in Davenport, which is near Santa Cruz. Didn't have much time here, so I hope to return soon. It was a beautiful, relatively secluded beach with an amazing sea stack. I wish we had those in southern California.
I had only about 20 minutes to photograph this beach before meeting up with a friend, so I hiked in, set up quickly, snapped a few compositions and with a heavy heart, headed back to town. I was lucky to have clouds, just as I was packing up the clouds all burned off and it was a clear empty sky the rest of the day!

It was a fairly straight forward shot. I wanted to get some wave action so I slowed the exposure down slightly, waited for some good waves to come in and snapped away.
Burned and dodged much of this photo. Darkened the clouds to give a more moody atmosphere, and dodged the waves to bring them out more.
