Another photo from Joshua Tree. I like the lines in this, and the moss gives some interest. The dynamic range was very difficult to work with, and it required much more time in post-process than I usually spend. I have worked on this shot, put it away, and come back to it several times.

Tripod, 3 step graduated ND filter, hand held.
Unsharp Mask at 40%, 0.5 and I dodged and burned the sky and ground. The exposure was very uneven because I didn't have the proper filter with me. I had also bracketed several shots of this composition due to the dynamic range being totally wild. There was very little mid-range on the histogram....it was all shadows and highlights. I added a warming filter as well.
