General Note: Janet Reno, the first female Attorney General of the United States, was born in Miami. As a Dade County prosecutor, Reno developed a reputation as tough, liberal and unpretentious. In 1993, President Bill Clinton appointed her U.S. Attorney General, breaking ground for women in high-level governmental roles. She was inducted into the Florida Women's Hall of Fame in 1993.
