most northerly

The closest I've ever been to the North Pole on land is Hermaness on Unst, near to the most northerly point of the British Isles. Alan and I spent two weeks on the Shetland mainland in 2002 and travelled to some of the other islands including Unst where he took this picture. Despite the sunny summer day the temperature remained quite cool I remember, hence the jacket.

I've been closer to the North Pole on a plane of course - our trip to Los Angeles took us over the northern areas of Canada.

I'm hoping one day to get to Iceland which might prove to be my most northerly landfall but you never can tell. :)
