Between Jobs
April 8 - May 11, 2011

The opportunity to exhibit in The Gatehouse came about last minute due to an unexpected break in the gallery's exhibition schedule. With little time to put together a show of previously realized work and because I have the luxury of working onsite as a member of The Art School staff, I decided to take this opportunity to work on an installation that will change throughout the course of the exhibition, using the breaks between tasks associated with my job to create.

For the first stage of the installation, I decided to attempt to paint (or is it collage?) an abstract composition in 3D space using advertisements from the pages of ARTFORUM, clear packing tape, scotch tape, and transparency paper as my medium. With this stage, I am attempting to blur and flatten 3D space into something more 2D.

With subsequent stages I may play off this initial stage or possibly start over completely depending on the laws of whim.

Over the course of the four week exhibit, I will photograph the changing nature of the installation and leave 4x6 images for you to look over.
