An Oasis Along The Pacific
Camera: Zero Image 2000 Pinhole
Film: Kodak Ektar 100
Exposure Time: 1.5 seconds
Location: First Beach - La Push, Washington
Dipping back into the well again with another image made during my trip out to La Push for a friend's wedding back in July. To get this shot I climbed up onto a massive driftwood log, one that dwarfs even those seen in this image. The people on the beach (red and black shadowy specks) really add a nice perspective to the grand scale of First Beach.
I had a wonderful conversation with a father and his son the afternoon I made this image. They where traveling around the Oregon and Washington coast for two weeks on vacation from North Carolina. I couldn't help but feel a bit jealous of such adventures, even though I too was currently enjoying the same beach as they. There is nothing better than being out on the road for an extended period of time, exploring the natural splendors this country has to offer. It reminded me of the two big road trips my family took to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons growing up. Can't wait to take similar adventures with my kids down the road.
