This was one of my target species during the Peru trip. I had three tries with giant otters during my stay in the SE part of the country. This was the last attempt, shot from a canoe, and I finally got the shot I was looking for: a depiction of this endangered species exposing its unique neck patterns. Scientists use these patterns to identify individual otters.
