Dusky Dolphin Leaping
Photographing dolphins in mid-air isn't the easiest thing. I had an impossible time with it back in 2004, but this time it helped that we were surrounded by so many (800!) and were told that if they jump once, they usually do it again. Of course, one still has to look all different directions to find them, and the jumpers always seemed to be heading away from us.
Not this one. It came straight at us and kept leaping and splashing. The final sploosh occurred only about 10 feet away before it disappeared into the deep. It was quite a thrill to have at least one photo come out from this proximity.
