Mountain Whitewater

    Newer Older

A river flowing out of a small lake in Glacier National Park. It is a little hard to see, but right above the top waterfall is a bridge and just past the bridge is the lake. This is another where I made the clouds and whitewater a little more "dramatic" but toning down the highest highlights.

Really excellent job with the exposure. Composition really works too--very distinct foreground, midground, and background. Makes for a complex, albeit, not busy scene. I don't do many landscapes--but in my opinion this really falls in the Ansel Adams vein. As far as the highlights go--everything looks natural to me--kinda looks like you used a red or orange filter (as with trad. b/w). Great work.

p.s. glad you stuck with the 3:2 aspect ratio. classic. I really hate 4:3 for still photography--the main reason why I don't invest in a point and shoot--plus 4:3 is awkward for golden ratio composition. so, again, good job.
