Florida Furniture Industries
35mm Elmarit (yellow filter)
Fomapan 100 in HC-110 (1:31 @ 69 deg. for 6 min)
-- What's left of Florida Furniture Industries. According to the web (and the internet never lies), it started as a cypress mill in the nineteenth century, but gravitated to making furniture in the 1930's. It got hammered by the 'Great Recession,' and finally closed its' doors in 2012, not being able to compete with imports from lands where the costs of labor is much less. We only explored a couple workrooms, because it was creepy, overgrown, very dark, with sagging and splintered roofs. This giant wheel is apparently the pinnacle of the site.
-- Comedy of errors on this visit: Left faster film in the car, forgot to take the yellow filter off the lens, and didn't even think of pushing the film. Coupled with the dark interior this resulted in picture-killing camera shake for most of the shots. Such rookie mistakes; guess I was too excited. Mary helped salvage this shot in post-processing.
