**no chickens were harmed in the making of this photo**
I saw her slide off the hood but never for a second thought anything was amiss. There was no flapping, no squawking, no thrashing so I waited patiently for the auto-timer to fire the camera. When I hopped down, I turned to check the camera and saw the poor thing hanging there so so so still.
My heart leaped up into my throat. I slowly stepped towards her, thinking she had somehow snapped her own neck when suddenly she turned her head to look at me, blinked a few times and quietly quipped "Bwak bwak bwak bwak."
I busted up laughing.
There is this hen with her talon caught in the grill of a 66' Dodge Dart hanging completely upside down and yet placid as can be.
I pinned her wings down, cradled her and worked her toe from between the metal. In return for "saving" her from the apparently comfortable predicament, she pecked me and hopped from my arms, complaining loudly.
