Washing Tomatoes, at Home, Sault Ste. Marie

    Newer Older

From the Portra 160 test roll. No processing was done by the scanner software and only minimal processing was done in PS; set white/black points for each colour channel and increased contrast by a hair. No colour balance or saturation adjustments here.

Jan was absolutely right. I love this film! Portra 160 will be replacing Ektar 100 as my go-to 100-160 speed colour film.

that's pretty much all I do with Portra... set the black, white, grey points and adjust contrast if needed. Very simple and clean. The photograph looks wonderful with nice warm tones and good darks.

The light and color on the tomato is really brilliant. I've not tried any of the new Portra yet but this looks wonderful. I used to use the 400NC a lot which I loved.

really beautiful Nando...I love the kitchen sink scenes, as you know - you're doing marvelous things with light and shadow here - there's harmony (which translates into domestic harmony), but great surface variety as well...fantastic work, delicate, like the baroque naturalism of Caravaggio.

      Thanks Jan. :-)

Thank you Andrew. The new Portras are closer to the old NC versions.

Thank you Martin. :-) You are too kind. There is something graceful about kitchen sinks illuminated by natural light.

Obrigado Teresa. :-) Você não deve se sentir insegura. Você já tire fotos muito agradável. Vou ver as fotos em breve.

I agree with some comments above - you could not have done better with the light. The tomato stands out so well. Oh, and another gourmet's delight is in process, I see!
