Hillsborough High School
Hillsborough High School opened as Hillsborough County's first high school in 1885. After a variety of locations, the school was finally relocated to the Seminole Heights neighborhood in 1928.
Hillsborough High has long been considered the flagship high school of Tampa and the Hillsborough County School District, due to its long history and the dozens of notable locals that have graduated from the school
White flight, exacerbated by intergration in 1971, caused Hillsborough High to suffer from the typical problems that plague inner-city schools. An active alumni association and proactive leadership initiated a couple of renovations and got the county to add an IB program to the school; a documentary of the school was produced a few years ago to local acclaim.
