Dawn at Ullswater, and a reproduction of a favourite photograph that I took during our Lake District trip in 07.
The bizarre thing being the clouds are in exactly the same place as the last time. As is the tree, and even a photographer perched on the same set of rocks.
Now whilst this picture is a copy of the other and my photographic skill and camera have improved, I still prefer the original!!
The original was taken on my first ever trip to the Lake District, and we had driven up there in the dark, I had never been there or seen it before and we slept in the car until Dawn in freezing temperatures, as I woke, and light was breaking I was awestruck by the sight that I saw, my first mountains and my first lakes. I cried.
I recall thinking I was being really creative and had Stumpy moving a huge log into the water to provide what I thought was foreground interest, but is instead just a blob in the water, and I recall us having a huge laugh about it all and all in all it being one of the most magical mornings of my life and I think that emotion and memory is what makes me love that original photograph so much.
Don't get me wrong though, this time was also fun and pretty special, and whilst it was entertaining watching Stumpy shooting this further along the shore and paddling deep into the water and hopping around like a posessed leprechaun because of the cold water and stones, this one won't be replacing the other on the lounge wall.
