Wow! North Korea's first "Global University Beyond Imagination!" Read more here:

CONTRIBUTING TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, PROSPERITY AND PEACE ON THE KOREAN PENINSULA: Professor PARK Chan-mo is the former president of POSTECH that became South Korea's leading science and technology university and one of Asia's best universities (see ) under his leadership. Until October 2010 Professor Park was president of The National Research Foundation of Korea which is South Korea's national top entity specialized in research funding and management.

Professor Park is also an initiator and a co-founder of the amazing Pyongyang University of Science and Technology (PUST) in North Korea which opened on October 25, 2010 and started - yes, it did! - with 20 professors classes for initially 100 graduate and 60 undergraduate students. Another 100 students are expected to be admitted in March 2011. All students admitted so far attended North Korea’s best universities such as Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of Technology, Science University, Pyongyang University of Computer Technology and other universities in Hamhung and Wonsan before entering PUST and all of them had excellent grades in their major subject areas and most of the students showed good proficiency in English in their placement tests. The lecturers stem from North America, South Korea, Europe and China. Professor Park acts as the Chancellor of PUST.

He developed the bold Vision 2020 called "A Global University beyond Imagination" to emphasize that PUST should become a global university in order to become a world-class university in the future. Professor Park explains: "Similar to other nations the future of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea will be largely depending on the young people, especially scientists and engineers and it is very important to educate those students to have a global mindset. It is well known that although there are political borders among the nations there are no borders in science and technology. Scientists and engineers should strive together for the betterment of human beings and world peace. That is why I am working for PUST. "

Also see on the Pyongyang Business School for senior business leaders and senior officials from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (north). It started in 2004, co-founded and co-managed by business man Felix Abt until 2010, with top business lecturers from Asia and Europe.

In its interview with Felix Abt the CHINA ECONOMIC REVIEW, the premier English-language China business magazine, asked him the following questions:

- How open is North Korea to foreign investment, and how many foreign companies are operating on the ground?

- What sort of person sets up business in North Korea? What sort of industries have arrived and what sectors are not represented?

- How easy is it to do business there? Are most foreigners concentrated in Pyongyang or are they spread around?

- Chinese President Hu Jintao has urged North Korea to speed up its economic reform, using China as a model. Could North Korea open up in the same way over the next few years?
