Battle of New Orleans Reenactment

The Battle of New Orleans took place near New Orleans between December 23, 1814 and January 8, 1815. It was the final major battle of the War of 1812. American forces, commanded by General Andrew Jackson, defeated an invading British Army intent on seizing New Orleans and the territory acquired by America with the Louisiana Purchase. The Treaty of Ghent had been signed on December 24, 1814, but news that the war was over would not reach combatants until February, 1815. British casualties during this campaign 386 killed including Generals Packenham and Gibbs, 1,521 wounded and 552 missing. US casualties, 55 killed, 185 wounded and 93 missing.
