"Old John Browns Body lies a Moldering in the Grave". -HDR
Today a good friend and ex-coworker www.flickr.com/photos/mary_starmagic/ took advantage of the Federal Holiday to make a quick visit to Washington DC to visit the International Spy Museum www.spymuseum.org. While in DC we also stopped by the National Portrait Gallery.
Here Ole Peter Hansen Balling imagined John Brown, wrapped in a U.S. Army blanket, awaiting execution in his Virginia prison cell in 1859. Balling’s portrait, however, was not painted until around 1873.
