The 144th Session of FAO Council will take place from 11th-15th June 2012, FAO, Rome, Italy.

The Council, which meets until Friday, is composed of representatives of FAO member countries. Elected by the FAO Conference, the Organization's top governing body, Council members meet every six months to carry out executive oversight of programme and budgetary activities.
Issues under discussion by Council, a 49-member governing body representing all seven FAO regions, include decentralization, adjustments to the budget for 2012/13, and FAO's overall strategic direction.
