William Bailey - killed 'by God'

Field worker, William Bailey died whilst cutting oats in a field in Wicken, Cambridgeshire in August 1861.

 

The inquiry into his death found the cause to have been 'by visitation of God'.

 

The culprit was subsequently not brought to justice.
