DDFR Roadshow @ New York African Film Festival
The 23rd edition of the New York African Film Festival launches with a special, interactive town hall event on Sunday, May 1st at 2:00pm with the Digital Diaspora Family Reunion Roadshow, a powerful program that helped bridge perceived differences between people and transforms strangers into family.
People of all backgrounds were invited to bring a family photo (on phones, IPads, or traditional prints) for a chance to share their family stories, and in the process discover linkages that underlie our common humanity as their photos were projected on a large screen for the audience. A panel discussion with creatives of the African Diaspora including artist-filmmaker Thomas Allen Harris, photographer Delphine Fawundu, musician Ayoinmotion and actress-educator Malika Lee Whitney followed the DDFR program.
