Tilt Shift Football

    Newer Older

This was my first try at a faux tilt shift effect using photoshop. Most of my photography doesn't lend itself to this technique, but I thought this photo would work fairly well and I'm pretty happy with the results.

I really hope that I'll get some comments from some of the fake tilt-shift experts about how to refine my technique!

I can't fault your technique and it's a perfect subject for a tilt shift.

If you want more of a challenge, go for a subject with verticals in too - they're great fun. You can paint a Quick Mask to match the subjects distance from camera and then apply the blur. Quite often you won't get as convincing an effect as the base gradient as you end up trying to mask areas to keep them in focus.

I've had great fun going through old photos and shifting them. The other week I went up the multi storey car parks in town and took some pictures especially for shifting. They came out okay!

Well Ted, this is the first I've heard of this technique - and I LOVE it!
I am so impressed - I will be taking photos of Wrigley field and trying it for myself when I return to blighty!

For some reason, this reminds me of the toy electric football game I had when I was a kid. It's a very cool effect.
