Our young friend Natalina found her bliss playing Shakespeare at Mill Valley Middle School. She joined ‘Shakespearience’, an after-school theater workshop for 5th to 8th graders, who just gave a lively performance to family and friends. They played a medley of scenes and soliloquies, with Natalina performing as Queen Gertrude in Hamlet, and Don John in Much Ado About Nothing. We were impressed with her command of the stage and how well she engages the audience. She seems to really enjoy acting and I think she has a real knack for it. It was also a pleasure to meet her teachers Kitty Thompson and Scott Coopwood, both classical actors, who are doing a fine job bringing Shakespeare's works to life for students — guiding them to find their own voice within William's words … sometimes while wielding a sword. Good for them!
