More Fires in the Himalayas - Solan Rajgarh HIlls
Forest fires are quick and fast. They devour grass and dry organic matter of the mountain chains in minutes. Here is a view of a distant hill side engulfed by a chain of fire that is visible on the front side here but it is apparent that behind that mountain chain is also another fire that is throwing up the light on the smoke.
In the forefront are houses which must be a few kms away as the crow flies. Since this has been shot with a telescopic lens there has been a great amount of fore shortening. This must be a good 8-12 kms away from where it was shot,.
Notes on Photography
This has been mounted on a tripod and shot with the mirror up to prevent the vibration of the shutter. Shot at 190 mm on a telescopic lens the smallest vibration gets amplifed to a large extent. Keeping the shutter open for long durations makes the fire too fuzzy and the play of air currents makes the imagery a tad uncertain. This has been shot at 4 seconds with an ISO of 800. If it was shot at ISO 200 , the shutter speed were well near 8 -13 seconds and the results not as good as one would want. The image still has a blur in spite of all the steps taken here.
