This is Badami in Panoramic Redux. The red colored sand stone cliffs and the ghat steps accent the vivid waters of deep emerald green. The skies show the drama of the impending monsoon on the western horizon. It was raining in 3 patches but here you can see only one such patch on your left.
The green colored water body is called Lake Agastaya and the ghat like steps that you see on your left side have a lot of people washing their clothes and drying them. Thankfully, not so when I was there to take this.
This is a phototmerge of 3 wide angle shots of 12 mm put together in this panorama in processing.
Badami town is nestled in the valley with the distant hills in the horizon on the west and the mesa like sandstone cliffs on the east. Where once a river must have run millions of years ago, the sleepy town remains lit up in the sunshine on a late evening in June of 2009, just before the monsoon clouds come calling.
