sunrise. mojave phone booth. 2000.

the mojave phone booth was an isolated pay-phone located in a very remote part of california's mojave desert, at least 30 miles from anywhere. it became famous when the phone number was posted on the internet. people would call from all over the world, just to see if the story was for real. other people would drive out and camp, answering the phone. on one visit, i answered calls from boston, nyc, wilmington, london, paris, brussels, berlin and warsaw. the number was (760) 733-9969.

the national park service ripped the phone out in 2001.
