Ringlight: Beauty vs. Flaws
I was going through shots from the PDX Strobist March Meetup and came across this shot. One of the guys had made a pretty large ringlight out of 10 incandescent bulbs. I started thinking about how the whole point of a ringlight is to make people look beautiful by removing any shadows on their face.
I decided it would be a fun exercise to take this photo an intentionally expose all of the flaws in the person. I wanted to contrast the before/after in one photo and this is the final result.
Check out the "Flaws Exposed" version of this photo.
"Flawed" side editing: All the editing to this side was done in Adobe Lightroom. I gave a detailed list of adjustments in this comment.
"Beauty" side editing: This side is almost how it was straight out of the camera. The only changes were a few little edits to the eye and skin in Photoshop.
