no bake energy bites

A friend got this very generic recipe off of Pinterest, but the pin was linked to a completely random and unrelated page, so I'm not sure where the original came from.

 

The recipe in its original form:

No-Bake Energy Bites

1 cup (dry) oatmeal

1/2 cup chocolate chips

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/2 cup ground flaxseed

1/3 cup honey

1 tsp. vanilla

 

How I made them:

1 cup (dry) oatmeal

1 scoop vanilla protein powder

1/2 cup raisins

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/2 cup whole flaxseed*

1/3 cup honey

 

*Note: I should have used ground flaxseed but I am a dope and got the whole seeds. They are still tasty, they just have a slightly odd crunch to them.

 

You just mix everything together and then split them into whatever portions you want and roll them into balls! Mine are .7oz which makes 24 and puts them at an even 90 calories. You can split them however you see fit based on what you put in them!

 

The friend I got this from took the original recipe and removed the vanilla and flaxseed, then just added a scoop of vanilla protein powder.

 

So, as you can see these are very customizable! This is a great recipe that you can play around with and add whatever nutrition to that you want (i.e. flaxseed for the omega-3 and/or protein powder, etc). If you stick with the basics of oatmeal, peanut butter, and honey you will likely always end up with something sweet and cookie like to eat that's much healthier for you!
