Are You Gonna Go My Way? (Explored)

    Newer Older

From looking at previous photos of the “Hitchhiking Ghosts” of Walt Disney World's “The Haunted Mansion”, I would say these are new and improved animatronics. You can definitely see some differences in their faces and also (can't tell by this picture) but their animation seems improved. I'm not entirely sure but I think they may have brightened up the scene a touch though. Still took an ISO of 21400 at f/2.8 and shutter speed of 1/30. Yeah, still pretty darn dark. I've never been able to get a lock on these guys with auto focus, so manual focus was definitely key here. And I don't seem to have manual focus down very well on the dark rides, so I kind of got lucky here on the focus. And yes, quite a bit of noise reduction / detail smear here to get rid of some of the noise.

Also new in the scene are some props - a picture on the left, a suitcase and a hobo nap sack.

I'm upset that I never got to see these guys, or the new queue, or the new mirror effect. It was all temporary nonsence when I was there. But hey, there's always next time and it will just help get me back there sooner. :) Love the way the D3S capture this one! I was surprised that you shot it at such a high ISO and didn't experience more noise than this. Even after processing. Outstanding work!

Excellent capture. They look like you could actually grab them now, though that may not be a good thing for ghosts. Regardless the brightness of them really brings out the expressions of the ghosts.

Fantastic. So excited to see this in person. I've been impressed with their updates lately, let's hope the same will be true for all the MK updates.

I saw this via the Twitter link this morning and couldn't wait to see it on my computer (Flickr is one of the forbidden blocked sites at work). This is astounding and outrageously awesome! Brilliant work Joe!

super excited on this enhancement. i was there last month and it was all 3d also caught me off guard and couldn't capture any of it. but i definitely will be looking forward to this next time i head on over there.. this is exactly why that D3S works for rides like these. I know canon's can't match this at all (apologies to 85% of disney flickr folks) and I don't think even my very new D7000 can hit these levels and give 'that' clean shot. but knowing perfection is key i have to stress shooting this with a prime lens. something with 1.4. i hit 1/60 with a 50mm at f/2 with the same levels..a scene like this could probably hit 1/100.
